In session is a live album by Albert King, heavily featuring special guest and then newcomer to the blues scene, Stevie Ray Vaughan. The performance was initially recorded for Canadian television at CHCH-TV studios in Hamilton, Ontario in December 1983 and released as an album and accompanying DVD in 1999.
The record features some fine blues jams, interspersed with informal chat between King and the young Vaughan. During one of these casual chats, King recalls jamming with “Little Stevie” in Texas several years before.
The record boasts smoking versions of “Call It Stormy Monday” and “Don’t Lie To Me”, with Stevie Ray respectfully wearing his Albert King influence on his sleeve while trading licks with his hero. The interplay between these two legendary guitarists is electric.
