Arguably the most influential blues album of the 80s and to many, the definitive Texas Blues record, Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble’s debut spawned a generation of aspiring guitarists, all in search of the secret behind SRV’s signature tone.
From the opening number, “Love Struck Baby” and the gritty shuffle of “Pride And Joy”, to the sublime slow blues of the title track, Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton and Stevie Ray himself form the ultimate blues power trio. For the most part, the songs are unashamedly traditional, consisting predominantly of 12 bar arrangements. However, the closing instrumental track, “Lenny” is a moving, Hendrix-esque tribute to Stevie’s wife. Texas blues at its finest.
